No words can express my gratitude for this miracle! We will always remember that this is a true miracle and a gift the Lord has blessed us with because of the great love He has for us. Dan woke up from anesthesia feeling peaceful and praising God for his extended lease on life. A part of me wanted to record it but I also knew it would minimize the tenderness of the moment. Dan (and I) are so humbled by this experience.
Anesthesia is basically the same as taking a "Truth Serum"... the real you comes out and you have absolutely no ability to sensor what you feel or what you say. Dan came out of anesthesia quoting paragraphs of scripture. "Love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding". He also professed to every nurse and doctor who had any reason to be near him that the Lord loves His children, that we are on the Earth to have experiences (some joyful and some painful). He told us that he has witnessed a miracle in his life and that he will spend the rest of life trying to be worthy of the extended life the Lord has allotted him. He also told everyone (and I mean everyone) how much he loves them. He kept talking about the importance of learning to love and learning to forgive. I don't know if he will remember any of this later but those of us who were with him (his parents, Martha, Carolyn, Jacob, Jared and me) will always remember!
