Dan and I drove up to Huntsman today to pick up the MRI pictures so we can Fed Ex them to Mike Pendola in Texas. Dan initially wanted me to go for him but after making a few phone calls to Huntsman, he was told that he will have to pick up the images himself. I was already planning to go, so I went along for the ride. Dan planned a long lunch and figured he could make a super quick trip. H told his office staff he would be back at 2 p.m. to see his afternoon patients.
As we were driving, Dan got a phone call.. his truck automatically goes to speaker phone. It was Dr. Pickron's office. They had a cancellation for tomorrow... the nurse asked Dan is he is in a position to have surgery tomorrow? My heart started racing! I heard Dan hesitate for a second and then say "Yes". He looked over at me and I nodded by head. But by eyes were big and my mouth was hanging open. The nurse told Dan he would need to come up ASAP to get all of the medication and instructions for surgery tomorrow. He is supposed to start the prep at 1 p.m. It's now 1:30 p.m. and we're in Layton. So he pushed down on the gas a little harder and called Matt Peterson to tell him the news. Matt said, "Okay, we need to have that MRI over-read right now! I'll call you back as soon as I have an answer." Yikes! Dan is having surgery tomorrow unless something changes our plan...
Dr Peterson just called us back and told us that every radiologist at the University of Utah has looked at that MRI. Every single doctor agrees that based on the MRI Dan should go straight to surgery. Dr. Peterson told us "It is a miracle! You need to to accept the Lord's miracle and have surgery tomorrow". That is exactly what Dan's mom said, unequivocally. When we received the phone call, Dan felt the words "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and learn not unto thine own understanding" come into his mind... So, the decision is made.... surgery tomorrow.
