Our ward fasted for for us today along with both sides of our families. It's hard to have everyone know that our world is being tipped upside down. But soon it will be impossible to keep it all under cover. Richard's wife Martha (Dan's dad) is personal friends with Elder Christofferson. Martha let them him know what is happening with Dan. Elder Christofferson called back a few hours later to tell Martha to tell Dan that the First Presidency will be personally praying for Dan by name. Dan is so humbled to know this. Not that the prayers of the First Presidency are more efficacious but that he is valued enough to be prayed for personally. Our hearts are full.
Dan shared his testimony today. It was beautiful. Carolyn shared her testimony. She is amazing. Jacob always wants to be good and do good and he is always happy. I'm the absolute luckiest person alive to have Dan and Carolyn and Jacob! I love them so much.
Everyone has been so incredibly kind (except the colorectal surgeon, who wasn't unkind just very pragmatic) and Dan reminds me that the first act of kindness is competence... So in that regard he is also kind. He is certainly very skilled in his profession.
School starts in a few weeks for the kids. We have been so blessed to have a great summer... the kids seem to be very well adjusted and happy. I know its going to be hard on them to see Dan sick but I think it will mostly be hard on me. The kids need me to keep their lives flowing normally. I hope I can hold it all together.
We feel angels protecting us and watching over us. We are at peace that the Lord is in charge and that He has a plan for us.
