Dan's Man Purse

Dan has a man purse!  It's a super cool black fanny pack holding his IV bag of chemo and the pump.  Dan is amazing!  He never complains.  He woke up Thursday morning and went to work looking just the same as he does any other day, with addition of a man purse.  If you didn't know,  you might think he's exercising his 2nd Amendment rights!
....
The pump is fairly cumbersome but Dan made it look like it was no big deal.  The pump was turned off on Friday evening and just as the chemo team told us... he started getting sick. He spent yesterday in bed - so dizzy that he couldn't stand up.  He was also extremely tired.  He slept for 30 of 36 hours.  We definitely planned it right to have the chemo from Wednesday - Friday so he can recover over the weekend when he's not on call.  It's Sunday evening and he's finally starting to feel like a human again..... just in time for work tomorrow.  He's actually looking forward to being on call this week.  HaHa...because that means there's no chemo this week!

We also recognize how blessed we are.  We have been so blessed though all of this. We feel a bubble of protection around us.  We feel peace.  We feel love.  We know the Lord will not allow us to suffer one second longer than is necessary.  We know that ultimately everything we experience in this life is for our good and all suffering will be made up to us eventually.

I want to fast forward through this cancer experience but I also want to slow down the time as Carolyn is in her senior year and in the blink of an eye she will be gone.  Our lives will never be the same after this is over.  We will all be changed.  I'm so grateful for the blissful innocent life we lived until July 27, 2017.  And I look forward to the new good things we will experience after we finish this chapter of life.
